Nightclubbiz.com in Second Life

About a year ago, I decided to check our Second Life. I'm not much of an online gamer, but SL proved to be different. It actuality it's not a game at all, but a universe, which encompasses its own social structure, currency exchange, real estate market, and workforce. The focus in SL however, is largely based on activities of a social nature.

I'm not going into great depth into the ins and outs of Second Life in this document, but suffice it to say, it's a highly complex social environment. Social foreplay and romance dominates much of this universe, thus a sizable assortment of nightclub entertainment venues.

Similar to real life, only a very small percentage of nightclubs in SL are successful and because similar to real life… It's mainly mom, pops, and amateurs who (that while have good intentions) really do not understand the broader scope of the SL demographic, or the fundamental product people seek here -at least on a social entertainment level that is...

No big secret… I've been running some experiments in Second Life myself. Most of these are based on theories I've been toying with for a long time, however test piloting these in a Real Life nightclub is not exactly easy. In Second Life, however, Real Life simulations are very possible, and I've had great success with these so far.

But there's more… SL is fairly beta right now. But… I predict it will morph into something, which may forever change the way people meet, socialize, interact, and yes… Romance. Unlike the ancient nightclub model where the basis of interaction is largely superficial, shallow, and almost frivolous at times, interaction in SL encompasses /invokes a strong intellectual component.

Yes what I'm saying is fancy clothes, cute faces, and ill-fated pickup lines will only get you so far in SL. In other words, if you're a mental midget, you may be able to supplement this deficiency with a nice ride, or a Rolex. Can't do that in the Metaverse people!

While everyone in SL is drop dead gorgeous, these superficial attributes do not go as far as you may think. Once a dialog begins, you're immediately connected at a social or intellectual level. If you cannot, or choose not to conduct yourself in an appropriate manner, you gonna get ya ass kicked real fast! :-)

Also… It's a faster game in here… Unlike a RL nightclub, things can move VERY quickly. Gotta think fast, choose your words carefully, and keep your wits about you. In essence, SL is a "true meeting of the minds." If you can't deal with that, then I suggest you stay away, otherwise 1). You just won't get it… Or 2). You'll humiliate yourself.

But what's the most notable observation?

Hah… Big drum role please… It's a female driven environment!! I won't lie.. The females have a real upper hand here. I suspect this is because they do not need to deal with much of the utter crap that goes on in a real life bar, amongst other things.

In Second Life, they have the advantage of quickly determining idiots through immediate dialog and if necessary... Dropping them like fly's -LOL!

And… This is not your typical 19 to 24-aged bar crowd. The demographic in several of the clubs I work here spans from 24, upwards to 60 years of age!!! Can you say 'diverse' and 'composite' social environment? Trust me… It's anything but predictable in here, and that in and of it self is a breath of fresh air for me…

You'll also observe females to be much more outgoing in Second Life entertainment ventures. They'll flirt with you.. Sass you… And will ask you to dance. DO NOT mistake that as easy. If you do, you may find yourself on ice.

In essence, SL is social entertainment on steroids. Unlike normal clubs, which attract less than 1% of the broader 100 million singles demographic, SL continues to demonstrate a small taste of this 'much larger' market in terms of diversity, culture, and age demographic. And yes… The number of real life marriages that have spawned from Second Life continue on an upward trend.

In all honesty, I don't know where this is going to go yet, however it has proved promising, at least as a medium that thus far… Has sustained growing interest from the broader level singles demographic, and a number of not so single people as well. LOL! :-) :-)

Just beware… There are many MANY mysteries buried deep within the social structure of SL… All I will say is… Things may not always be what they seem, and I mean from a broad range of perspectives. If nothing else, it will keep you on your toes and keep you wondering. As a wise man once said… Things that make you go hmmmm.

Nightclubbiz.com has provided consulting and entertainment services for a couple of more successful operations in SL. Yes.. I'm thinking of launching my own venue there, but not yet… I don't believe it's quite ready for what I want to do at this point, so I'm still observing, experimenting, and performing the DJ Dave Show throughout various venues on the Second Life grid.

Yeah… I really thought my days as a host MC were done, but in this case, it's required to put /keep me touch with this rapidly developing medium. And yes… It's fun!

See the DJ Dave Show, complete with sound clips here.
